Our Work at Toronto's Contact Photography Festival

Toronto's (Scotiabank) Contact Photography Festival is one of the biggest photography festivals in Canada (1). This year we displayed some work at the Album Studio Rental gallery (2). The following is a photo of the series 'Support Mechanism' and the artist statement which went along with it.  Hope you enjoy!

Support Mechanism by Robyn Mulvena and Matt Bueno

The anatomical human body as represented by captured light through a lens displays the surface of many living layers.  Skin hides what gives shape and function to the landscapes of our bodies.  To credit someone with beauty is to acknowledge the sum of their physiology. "Support Mechanism" seeks to demonstrate the complexities that shape our outward identities as seen by the outside world.  Without such intricacies we would have neither form nor function with which to perceive and display our physical individuality.
